Thom & Becky Davis

Missionaries to Latin America

Thom was always involved in church activities in music and Bible Quiz, but in 1974 at the age of 15 he became very sick. He was diagnosed with Leukemia at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. His parents were strong Christians and immediately contacted their pastor for prayer. While praying for Thom, their pastor was impressed by the Holy Spirit that tomorrow they would receive a different diagnosis. After 7 grueling hours of testing, the doctor walked into Thom’s room and told his parents, “I don’t understand how, but there has been a change in diagnosis. He has Crohn’s Disease.”

“It’s still incurable, but at least it is controllable with proper medication.” Thankful beyond belief that God had healed him, that night Thom dedicated his life to ministry in whatever way God intended for him. Then after 16 years battling the ravages of this disease, including 2 surgeries, in 1990, Thom was healed of Crohn’s disease as well. That opened the door for the plans of God several years down the road…

While attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, Thom met Becky. Becky was a Music Education Major and sang in a touring group, The Madisonians, that traveled to promote the university. Thom was a Music Administration major and ran sound for the group. They began to talk on one of the tours and found out that they had a lot in common.

Their relationship grew and Thom asked Becky to marry him just before his last semester. They waited another year for Becky to graduate and were married June 26, 1982 in Lancaster County, Virginia.

Thom and Becky first served as Ministers of Music in Winchester, Virginia for 5 years. During that time, Thom went through the credentialing process with the Assemblies of God and was ordained in 1986. During that time, Becky taught Choral Music at John Handley High School in Winchester while developing her own private music studio of voice and piano students.

1986 was a big year as their first son, Jason was born and God called them to serve as Music Pastors at Lighthouse Worship Center in Gloucester, Virginia. During their time there, the church grew from 250 to 800 and built a 1500 seat auditorium. During their 8 years serving at LWC, Thom was in charge of producing the church’s services on TV at the local cable station. This is where Thom’s TV experience and editing career began.

During the next several years, two more children were born to the Davis'. Jonathan in 1988 and Lydia in 1992.

Once again the hand of God directed the Davis family to move to Griffin, GA in 1994 as Music and Media Pastors. The church grew from 800 to 4000 during their 18 years there. Becky continued her private music studio and also worked at Griffin Christian Academy for 15 years developing their general music program, and also served as their choral director and musical drama teacher. As the church grew, Thom felt called to full-time Media where they could develop the outreach of the church through the many formats of Media.

In 2010, Thom and Becky were invited by Bill McDonald to come serve the country of Ecuador at Unsión TV in Cuenca, Ecuador. After much prayer, they decided to follow that call on their lives as well. In 2013 they headed to language school in Costa Rica for one year and in January 2014, they landed in Ecuador to serve at Unsión TV. Their entire marriage journey has been God-inspired and miraculous. In 2024, they were reassigned to serve the Latin America Region in the area of communications and Financial Partnership Development. They also serve as a part of the Global Member Care Team. They have relocated to Griffin, Georgia as their home base.

Their son, Jason graduated from Southeastern University in 2007 with a degree in Communications. Jason has served at Evangel Temple in Columbus, GA and at Calvary Church in Irving, TX. In 2012, Jason married Emily Page of Plano, TX. He currently works as an Art Director and video designer in Allen. They have two daughters, Brooklyn and Isabella.

Thom & Becky’s second son, Jonathan graduated from Southern Polytechnic University in 2011 with a degree in Architecture. He started with Bradfield, Richards and Rhodes Architecture Firm in Dunwoody, Georgia and is now an animator with Discovery Channel in Atlanta.

Lydia began her undergraduate studies at Armstrong University in Savannah, GA and then transferred to Clayton College and State University in Southlake, GA where she received her Associates Degree. She then transferred to the University of Georgia, Athens where she was accepted into the Graphic Arts Design program. She presently lives and works in Shreveport, LA and married Daniel Jorden in March, 2020.

Thom and Becky's call is to see people set free and redeemed by their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. They experience the presence of God daily through their dependence on His mercy, grace, and provision.

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
